Georgina Barrera is the owner of Villa Children’s Therapy. She has been a Speech-Language Pathologist for 25 years. Although her early experience was working with adults in the sub-acute, inpatient rehabilitation hospital and nursing home settings, most of her experience has been working with children in the school, clinic, and home health settings.
Her experience has allowed her to grow in the areas of articulation, fluency, autism, language development, including language as it affects literacy, and feeding disorders. She never planned on owning a business, however, after working in the private sector for several years, she decided that she had more to offer patients and employees by running her own company.
Born and raised in El Paso, Georgina has been happily married to her husband for 29 years and has been blessed with 3 amazing children and 3 beautiful grandchildren. She is proud to be able to help children and their families in the El Paso community and hopes to continue to give children a voice for years to come.
I am a bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist from El Paso, Texas. I have been serving the children and adults in the community for about 40 years. My favorite and primary population has been children ages 0-22 years in a variety of settings to include home, school, clinic, foster home and institution.
I have had the opportunity to be both an administrator and a service provider during my career. As a service provider, Speech-Language Pathologist, I have had the opportunity to work with children who are blind, hearing impaired, autistic, language delayed, articulation disordered, disfluent/stutter, voice impaired, developmentally delayed and minimally verbal. My experience gives me the tools I need to start with a child as I learn more about their specific needs. My current areas of interest are assistive technology/technology (low and high), autism and language disorders.
I am fortunate to practice in a career that is constantly changing so that I will never know everything and continue to learn.
